Ocala (Fla.) Trinity Catholic three-star offensive tackle Tommy Kinsler committed to Miami on Thursday night. The 6-foot-6, 333 pound offensive lineman chose the Hurricanes over multiple programs including Florida, Florida State and Tennessee.

Miami is now up to 16 commitments in its 2023 recruiting class, which contains one-five star, nine four-stars and six three-stars. The Hurricanes opened the day with the No. 5 class in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings. Miami’s group is led by Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy five-star offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa.

Kinsler, a former Florida pledge who decommitted on July 1, is now the third offensive tackle commitment in the Hurricanes’ class alongside Mauigoa and Playa Del Rey (Calif.) St. Bernard three-star Frankie Tinilau. Miami also has a commitment from Owings Mills (Md.) McDonogh School four-star interior offensive lineman Antonio Tripp.

Prior to his commitment, Kinsler visited Miami’s campus only once for an official visit on June 24. He also took official visits to Florida, Florida State and Rutgers in June.

His unofficial visit list included four to the Gators, two to the Seminoles, one to Tennessee and one to Georgia. Kinsler’s other offers included Louisville and Ole Miss among others.

Tommy Kinsler Recruiting Profile

Kinsler is the No. 954 overall prospect and the No. 57 offensive tackle in the 2023 On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

He also has an On3 NIL Valuation of $5.8K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

In the hours before Kinsler’s announcement, the Hurricanes had a 96.1% chance to land his commitment according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

The RPM was released to the public in December. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college.

It factors in machine learning, social sentiment, visits and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.
