Miami (Fla.) Central linebacker Wesley Bissainthe committed to Miami, he announced Saturday night.

Bissainthe is the No. 178 prospect in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is ranked as the No. 17 linebacker in the 2022 class and No. 23 player in the state of Florida.

According to MaxPreps, Bissainthe notched 47 tackles this season, including 15 tackles for loss, to go along with six sacks, two interceptions and two forced fumbles. As a junior, Bissainthe totaled 45 tackles, including 21 for loss, as well as seven sacks.

The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder held more than two dozens offers. But he largely focused on the Hurricanes, Florida State, Penn State, Florida and West Virginia since this summer.

He took official visits to West Virginia, Penn State and Miami in June. This fall, he saw Florida State and Florida for official visits. However, Miami was the campus he was most frequently on, and the ‘Canes ultimately won out. His commitment comes in the midst of reports that Miami will hire Clemson athletic director Dan Radakovich and make a serious run at Oregon head coach Mario Cristobal to replace Manny Diaz.

Wesley Bissainthe’s commitment moves Miami to No. 18 in the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings. The Hurricanes only have nine prospects committed, but seven are ranked as four-stars or higher in the On3 Consensus.
