After a topsy-turvy recruitment, Miami Central five-star defensive lineman Armondo Blount became the latest local prospect to sign with Mario Cristobal and Miami in December. The Hurricanes are already trending to bring in another Miami Central DL in the 2025 cycle.

Randy Adirika told On3’s Chad Simmons earlier this week that Miami is currently “the team to beat” in his recruitment. Since then, Simmons and Miami insider Gary Ferman have each logged picks in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) for the Canes to land the local four-star.

“The coaches are consistent with me,” Adirika told Simmons of the Miami staff. “They text, call and always see how I am doing. Coach Joe Salave’a always checks on me. We have that real relationship and a real connection.”

Louisville and Penn State are among the other programs expressing interest in the 6-foot-5, 248-pounder, but pulling Adirika away from the hometown program will be a tall challenge. The Canes are looking to sign a Miami Central prospect for the fourth cycle in a row, with Adirika potentially following Blount, defensive lineman Rueben Bain and linebacker Wesley Bissainthe.

“I’m seeing what Miami preaches and teaches to their players and how they’ll go out into the games and execute what they’ve been taught,” Adirika told CaneSport last month. “We’ve watched some film, and I’ve seen their philosophies they teach their D-linemen and how they want them to play and look and stuff like that.”

Adirika is the No. 352 overall prospect and No. 30 DL in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 49 player in Florida.

Miami 2025 Class Breakdown

It’s still early in the 2025 cycle, but Miami has just four commits in its current recruiting class, as of Feb. 26. That group of pledges includes three four-stars, however.

Kissimmee (Fla.) Osceola four-star linebacker Elijah Melendez headlines the quartet as the No. 155 prospect and the No. 18 LB in the On3 Industry Ranking. He committed to the Hurricanes on Dec. 16.

Alpharetta (Ga.) Milton four-star quarterback Luke Nickel was a riser in the updated 2025 On300 and is now is a top-25 signal-caller in the Industry Rankings. On3 ranks him as the No. 152 recruit, overall.

Boynton Beach (Fla.) Palm Beach Central four-star wide receiver Waden Charles and Quincy (Fla.) Gadsden County three-star offensive tackle Lamar Williams round out the class, which currently ranks No. 15 in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
