A few days ago on Feb. 9, the NFL officially released the list of 324 prospects invited to travel to Indianapolis, Indiana and participate in the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine at Lucas Oil Field. The Michigan Wolverines had eight players selected, tying them with Penn State for the most players in the Big Ten. The combine will be held on March 1-7.

The Georgia Bulldogs landed a nationwide high of 14 invites for former players in this year’s combine. Behind the national champs in the invite count are Alabama and Oklahoma with 11. Last year, it was Ohio State that led the nation’s top programs with 14 invitees, followed by Alabama, Georgia, and Notre Dame with 11 each.

Below is the list of the Michigan players that were invited.

Mock Projections

Aidan Hutchinson is projected to be the highest-drafted player out of Michigan. Plenty of mock drafts have him going No. 1 overall to the Jacksonville Jaguars. If he isn’t selected by the Jaguars, it would be a real surprise if he slipped past the Detroit Lions at No. 2 overall or the Houston Texans at No. 3 overall. In the 2021-2022 season, he racked up 15.5 tackles for loss and 14 sacks for the Maize and Blue. His freakish pass-rush skills will be a welcome addition to any franchise.

Another first round selection for the Wolverines is expected to be David Ojabo, yet another dominant pass rusher from the Maize and Blue. On Feb. 9, PFF’s Mock Draft had Ojabo being selected by the Dallas Cowboys with the 24th selection in the first round. Ojabo played in 20 games for Michigan, totaling 36 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, three passes defended, five forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.

A number of mock drafts also have safety Daxton Hill being selected near the end of the first round, which would give the Wolverines three first round selections this year.

Should any of the Michigan players need another opportunity to impress NFL scouts after the combine, the Michigan Pro Day will be held on Friday, March 18. The 2022 NFL Draft will held on April 28-30 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
