The recruiting battle for Lexington (Ky.) Frederick Douglass three-star cornerback Jeremiah Lowe is leaning in favor of a program outside of the Bluegrass State. Michigan is the heavy favorite for Lowe, per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).

The Wolverines are now given a 97.8% chance to land the 5-foot-11, 170-pounder after recent industry expert predictions. The Kentucky Wildcats are way behind in the No. 2 spot at just 1.5%.

Lowe’s last visit came in Ann Arbor back in March. He has taken three unofficial visits to Michigan, the most of any program in his recruitment.

“It was a great visit and a great experience,” Lowe told The Wolverine in March. “On this visit, I saw why they have a winning culture and why they’re a winning team these past two years.”

Michigan’s co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach Steve Clinkscale is leading the recruitment of Lowe. Clinkscale was Kentucky’s DBs coach from 2016-2020 before leaving to join Jim Harbaugh in Ann Arbor.

“He’s Coach Clink so we talked a lot about football this time around,” Lowe said. “We talked a little film, defensive coverages and position fit. He sees coming in and earning (my spot on the team). I think he’s a good guy. He keeps it 100 so you can’t knock that. Especially in the recruiting game, you know?”

Lowe also owns offers from three other Power 5 programs: West Virginia, Missouri and Boston College. He is the No. 148 CB and No. 10 player from Kentucky in the 2024 cycle, per the On3 Industry Rankings, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Michigan pushing for top-five class

Michigan’s class is currently No. 7 in the nation and No. 2 in the Big Ten, behind rivals Ohio State. Lowe would be the 27th pledge in the class, which is headlined by 17 four-star prospects.

While he would be one of Michigan’s lower-ranked commits, the addition of Lowe would still be welcomed, as Harper Woods (Mich.) four-star safety Jacob Oden is the lone defensive back in the class. Oden, Nashville Ensworth four-star linebacker Mason Curtis and Cheshire (Conn.) four-star defensive lineman Jerod Smith are the three highest-ranked defensive pledges.

On the offensive side, Cincinnati Archbishop Moeller four-star running back Jordan Marshall, Charlotte Providence Day four-star quarterback Jadyn Davis and Rochester (Mich.) four-star tight end Brady Prieskorn headline the Wolverines’ top-10 class.
