Jim Harbaugh’s National Signing Day interview with the Minnesota Vikings has been quite a talking point this week. ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter provided an update on how things are going in Minneapolis with the Michigan head coach.

Harbaugh and the Vikings had an interview set for this afternoon, Schefter said on NFL Live. He added the timing of his second interview could indicate how much the Vikings want Harbaugh to be their head coach.

“They’re trying to get a feel for one another to see if this is a relationship that they want to move forward and advance,” Schefter said. “I think everyone can agree if Jim Harbaugh is in Minnesota on this day and if the Vikings are interviewing him for a second time that there clearly is mutual interest. You don’t do that to Jim Harbaugh before somehow figuring he’s not going to be in the mix.

“The question is do they want to move forward now with him [or] do they want to wait for one of the Rams’ coordinators or another candidate after the Super Bowl? We’ll see what they decide. But Jim Harbaugh is in the building today, as we speak. They’re going through the process. Again, we’ll see what the vikings owners ultimately decide to do here.”

Harbaugh isn’t the only candidate the Vikings are reportedly considering. Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell and defensive coordinator Raheem Morris are candidates, as is New York Giants defensive coordinator Patrick Graham, according to ESPN.

Keyshawn Johnson: Jim Harbaugh deserves to be in the NFL

Later in the show, Keyshawn Johnson responded to Schefter’s report with high praise for Harbaugh. He pointed to his record at the college level and the fact that he took the San Francisco 49ers to a Super Bowl.

“You look at it, he deserves to be in the National Football League,” Johnson said. “You talk about his record in college. He did well at the University of San Diego. Stanford obviously speaks for itself. The San Francisco 49ers, where he compiled a 44-19 record and still going to the Super Bowl but not winning, and then seeing what he’s done at Michigan. The program is in good shape. He deserves the NFL.”

Harbaugh’s rumored interest in a potential NFL return has been quite a storyline to follow this offseason. Tuesday night, The Wolverine’s Chris Balas reported Harbaugh is heading to Minnesota with the intention of becoming Minnesota’s new coach.
