Mississippi State could have back two key offensive weapons today against Southern Mississippi, with quarterback Will Rogers and running back Jo’Quavious Marks both expected to be available, according to a report by Stadium’s Brett McMurphy.

Both have missed considerable time for the Bulldogs.

Will Rogers hasn’t played since Oct. 7 against Western Michigan. The veteran quarterback suffered an injury to his non-throwing shoulder late in the game.

Marks, meanwhile, suffered a left leg injury in a win over Arkansas on Oct. 21. He has not played since.

Both should provide a major lift offensively. The Bulldogs have had issues at quarterback with Rogers out, going from former Vanderbilt quarterback Mike Wright to freshman Chris Parson.

Wright has thrown for 453 yards with a 56.5% completion percentage. He’s thrown for three touchdowns and has thrown three interceptions.

The former Vanderbilt quarterback is also a threat with his legs, rushing for 297 yards and three touchdowns this season.

Parson hasn’t played as much but has thrown for 103 yards with a 42.3% completion percentage. He has not thrown a touchdown pass but has been picked off three times.

Prior to his injury, Rogers was playing the best football of the group. He had thrown for 1,275 yards with a 61.4% completion percentage. Rogers had accounted for 10 touchdown tosses and four interceptions.

But Will Rogers’ experience goes far beyond just what he’s done this season. He’s been a multi-year starter for the Bulldogs and is one of the most experienced and productive quarterbacks in the country. During his four-year career at Mississippi State, Rogers has thrown for 11,964 yards with 92 touchdowns and 28 interceptions.

Marks leads the team in rushing with 500 yards on 97 carries, scoring four times.

Mississippi State and Southern Miss are set to kick off at 12 p.m. ET with a broadcast on ESPN+.
