New Orleans Archbishop Shaw four-star wide receiver Jacob Washington holds offers from top programs all around the country. Schools like Michigan, Miami, Penn State and Ole Miss have all extended offers, and a number of schools have received unofficial visits.

Missouri will be the first school to receive an official visit, however. Washington has locked in an OV to Columbia for June 7. He previously visited Missouri in March.

Washington is the nation’s No. 336 overall prospect, No. 49 wide receiver and No. 8 recruit from Louisiana in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Mizzou currently holds commitments from four prospects in the 2025 class: Royersford (Pa.) Spring-Ford top-50 quarterback Matt Zollers, Canton McKinley four-star linebacker Dante McClellan, Belleville (Ill.) Althoff Catholic three-star defensive lineman Jason Dowell and Geismar (La.) Dutchtown three-star EDGE Joshua Lewis.

The addition of Zollers was a major win for the Tigers over Georgia and Penn State. He committed not long after a March visit to Columbia.

“It went very well,” Zollers said of his March visit to Mizzou. “I enjoyed my time up there, I got to see how all the coaches were in meetings with the players and at practice. I got to spend some time with the players and ask them some questions about how they like things and things like that.”

Mississippi State also pushing for Washington

Mississippi State currently sits second in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) for Washington at 10.4 percent — behind Mizzou (44.3 percent).

Washington has maintained a good relationship with Bulldogs receivers coach Chad Bumphis.

“I’ve been in close contact with Coach Bumphis,” Washington told Maroon and White. “We are starting to build a great relationship and that is definitely something I will consider when I make my decision of where I will spend the next four or five years. Coach Bumphis has been keeping up with what I am doing this offseason and trying to get me back up there to Mississippi State.”

His older brother – Joshua Washington – is a tight end on Mississippi State’s roster and is entering his second season with the Bulldogs.

“That is very beneficial to me, just knowing I have an inside source on the staff and the team, in general,” Washington said. “He can tell me how practices are going and I talk to my brother every day. So it is good to have someone on the inside there.

“He said he likes the staff and he likes the energy they bring. He believes the program is changing for the better.”
