Coming into the 2023 season, Missouri Tigers head coach Eli Drinkwitz had a quarterback controversy. By the end, though, there was no controversy. Brady Cook is set to be Missouri’s quarterback moving forward.

With Spring practice rapidly approaching, Drinkwitz met with the media where he spoke about Cook. There, he emphasized just how consistent Cook has been, including in how he practices, regardless of whether or not he’s in a quarterback battle.

“I don’t think ever since, Brady hasn’t changed really since Week 3, after we beat K-State,” Eli Drinkwitz said. “He’s kind of been the same, consistent person. Not looking over his shoulders, just being uniquely him. He’s driving a much nicer car because of an NIL deal and I’ve seen a couple more commercials on Instagram and stuff. So, maybe we’ve got to make sure he’s not gonna be a celebrity quarterback, but he’s Mr. Consistent.”

Despite how different the situation is moving forward for Brady Cook, Eli Drinkwitz doesn’t expect any change from him in practice.

“So, I don’t really worry about that part of it. I don’t think that he’s approaching Spring a whole lot different than how he approached bowl practice with something to prove.”

Now entering his fifth season with the program, it will be the third straight season where Brady Cook is going to be Missouri’s everyday quarterback. However, it’s the first year where he’ll go into the season comfortably with the job. That’s because of last season when he led the Tigers to an 11-2 record and a Cotton Bowl.

In 2023, Cook completed 66.1 percent of his passes for 3,317 yards. He also had 21 passing touchdowns. Cook also rushed for 319 yards and an additional eight touchdowns.

Eli Drinkwitz jokingly criticizes EA College Football 25 for Missouri slight

EA has been teasing its new college football video game. It’s something that Eli Drinkwitz knows is important, even as he jokingly criticized EA for a perceived slight over Missouri.

“I think it’s really important for us,” Drinkwitz said.

“Anytime we can market our brand, right? So, if you’re going to have EA Sports, it’s not a complete game unless you tell the story of Mizzou football and the players that we have here… I think it’s a great thing for college sports. As a guy who grew up playing college football on SEGA Genesis, I’m excited for it to come back. Although, I don’t know how to play on these new game consoles.”
