Former Missouri quarterbacks coach Bush Hamdan was officially hired on Wednesday evening by the Boise State Broncos. Hamdan was named the Broncos new offensive coordinator by their head coach, Andy Avalos on Wednesday night.

Hamdan played at Boise State from 2004-2008 and he returns to the Broncos with 14 years of coaching experience under his belt. He spent the last three seasons with the Missouri Tigers, coaching the wide receivers in 2020-2021 and the quarterbacks from 2020-2022.

Missouri earned a bowl bid each season Hamdan was on their coaching staff and the Tigers ranked 32nd nationally in passing offense during the 2020 campaign.

“We’re very excited to bring one of our brothers back to coach with our Boise State family,” Avalos said in Boise State’s official announcement on their website. “Bush is a proven coach at all levels of collegiate and professional football. We were very diligent in our process and there is no question he will be a huge part of the development of our program as we continue to grow forward.”

Hamdan will not coach in Missouri’s bowl game. Eli Drinkwitz will call the plays against Wake Forest in the Gasparilla Bowl. Hamdan also served as the offensive coordinator for Chris Petersen with the Washington Huskies from 2018-2019. Washington threw for 3,337 passing yards that year–the fourth most in school history. Jacob Eason was a fourth-round selection in the 2020 NFL Draft. Hamdan had a separate stint with the Huskies in 2015, when he served as their offensive quality control coach.

Hamdan’s brother Gibran was a seventh-round selection in the 2003 NFL Draft. He was a journeyman quarterback throughout his career.

Boise State will face off against North Texas in the Frisco Bowl on Saturday, Dec. 17. Kickoff for that one is slated for 9:15 PM EST. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN.
