Missouri is set to welcome one of the top prospects in the Magnolia State to Columbia for an official visit this summer.

On Monday, Horn Lake (Miss.) Lake Cormorant four-star linebacker Jarcoby Hopson announced via social media that he will take an OV to see the Tigers from May 31-June 1.

Hopson visited the Tigers over the weekend and didn’t take long to lock in an OV with the SEC program. Mizzou offered the blue-chip LB last April and Eli Drinkwitz and his staff are now looking to beat out other top programs in the conference for his pledge.

“The coaches always stay in contact and they are working hard to get me on campus,” Hopson told On3 ahead of his recent trip. “It is a place I want to check out. I like their (co-defensive coordinator)/linebackers coach (D.J. Smith) and his experience in the NFL.”

Hopson has also visited LSU this month — and he has plans to see Ole Miss and Texas A&M before the calendar hits April. From there, spring trips to Auburn, Miami and Texas could also be in the cards.

The in-state Rebels are currently trending for his pledge. He is the brother of current Ole Miss wide receiver Jarnorris Hopson.

“Ole Miss is at the top right now, but I am keeping my options open,” Hopson told On3. “I like Ole Miss, I like the coaches and I am high on them. The energy there is great, the staff really recruits me hard and they hit me up almost every day. (Safeties) coach (Wes) Neighbors and (defensive coordinator/linebackers) coach (Pete) Golding are always recruiting me. They want me to come be that hybrid linebacker for them. When I am there, the vibe is good and I just feel the love from Ole Miss.”

Hopson also told On3 that he is currently aiming for an August commitment. He is the No. 163 overall prospect and No. 20 LB in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 6 player in Mississippi.

Tigers still looking for first pledge in 2025

Missouri is currently without a commitment in the 2025 cycle — but the Tigers are in the mix for multiple blue-chippers. Drinkwitz and his staff are working to build momentum on the recruiting trail after landing the No. 21 class in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings last cycle.

Top signees included Lee’s Summit (Mo.) North Five-Star Plus+ EDGE Williams Nwaneri, Hudson (Fla.) four-star defensive lineman Elias Williams and Madison (Ala.) James Clemens four-star EDGE Jaylen Brown. Nwaneri is one of the program’s highest-ranked signees ever.

“What made me feel good about Missouri was comfortability, relationships with the coaching staff and the people there,” Nwaneri told On3. “It has a feeling like somewhere close that I could go and fit in. Staying home is extremely big for me. As a child I watched Missouri, I get to stay home and we can start something new. Having a chance to be that hometown hero and starting a trend at Missouri played into my decision.”
