Missouri’s 2024 recruiting class is just beginning to take shape, and Eli Drinkwitz and the Tigers added a major piece on the defensive side of the ball.

Brian Huff, the No. 12 linebacker in the country out of Jonesboro (Ark.) Valley View High School in Arkansas, gave a commitment to Missouri, who edged out Arkansas, Central Florida and also Notre Dame for the On300 defender and No. 2-rated player from the Natural State.

“My summer has been really busy, to say the least, with a ton of visits. Getting to Missouri was a highlight for me,” Huff started.

“The visit was great. I had a lot of fun and a few things they had really stood out to me — mainly how everyone really bonded like they were. areal family. I loved how the players all bonded with each other.”

Tigers linebackers coach and co-defensive coordinator D.J. Smith has led the charge for Missouri with one of Arkansas’ best.

“We are always talking,” Huff said of Smith. “We either text or get on a call, and I feel like he is real.”

“Coach D.J. (Smith) and pretty much their entire defensive staff talk every day constantly,” he added. “They’re a good team, an SEC school and they’re pretty close to home which is also nice.”

Drinkwitz, also an Arkansas native, played a signature role in recruiting Huff to Columbia this summer.

“Coach Drink and I are really close, too. We talk pretty often,” he continued on the Tigers’ head coach. “I like the way the team bonded this weekend (I was there). They showed me that they were tight. They’re also losing a bunch of guys in their linebacker room, and I think that Missouri is a team on the come-up.”

After several visits to Missouri this spring, Huff got a taste of life as a Tiger. After his official visit, they started to pull away.

“I love the facilities, the coaching staff… I feel like they’re moving in the right direction,” Huff said. And they’ve been consistent with the No. 155 overall recruit in the On300 for 2024.

“They speak to me every day and they love me over there. I’m at the top of their board,” Huff said of the Tigers. “That’s a great school. It’s the SEC and knowing that they want me that bad is a great feeling.”

“It’s been my goal since I was a child to be able to go on the field and accomplish my dreams and get offers, that’s where I’ve always wanted to be,” he added. “It’s a great feeling.”
