Rapid Reaction to Florida's 33-31 loss at Missouri

Missouri could be without one of its top defenders for Friday’s game against Arkansas. Star linebacker Ty’Ron Hopper is doubtful for the contest, according to Matt Zenitz.

The Butkus Award Finalist has recorded 55 tackles, six tackles for loss and three sacks on the year. He also has six quarterback pressures and three pass breakups.

“Missouri star linebacker Ty’Ron Hopper appears to be doubtful for the No. 9 Tigers’ game vs. Arkansas tomorrow. … Will be a game-time decision, though,” Zenitz posted.

Hopper has started 10 of 11 games for Missouri this season, missing last weekend’s win over Florida. Hopper is dealing with an ankle injury, according to Zenitz.

Ty’Ron Hopper is not only one of Missouri’s best defenders, he’s also one of the best linebackers in college football.

The senior joined Clemson linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr., Edefuan Ulofoshio of Washington, Nathaniel Watson of Mississippi State and Payton Wilson of NC State in being named a Butkus Award Finalist earlier this week.

“The five finalists embody the toughness, grit, football temperament and play making ability that the Butkus Award seeks to recognize. It’s my honor to present our finalists, on behalf of my dad, as chosen by our selection committee,” Matt Butkus said in a statement. “There are many very deserving candidates. These linebackers represent the most exceptional and have very bright futures ahead.”

Report: Ennis Rakestraw to miss regular-season finale vs Arkansas

Ty’Ron Hopper isn’t the only Missouri player banged up heading into the rivalry matchup with Arkansas.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported earlier this week that cornerback Ennis Rakestraw is set to miss the game.

“Sources: Missouri star cornerback Ennis Rakestraw will miss the game at Arkansas on Friday with an injury. Rakestraw is a fourth-year senior who projects as a Top 100 NFL Draft prospect in the upcoming cycle,” Thamel tweeted.

Over four seasons in Columbia, Rakestraw has compiled 107 total tackles for the Tigers, 24 pass breakups, one sack, a forced fumble and one interception. This season, he has racked up 35 total tackles and four PBUs. He will be sorely missed by Missouri this weekend but will hope to have his services back for the bowl game in a few weeks.

The opening kickoff between the Tigers and Razorbacks is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET live on CBS. Missouri is a nine-point betting favorite, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

If Missouri is going to finish the season 10-2, it will have to do so short-handed.
