Following the Women’s College World Series, star Oklahoma pitcher Jordy Bahl made the decision to transfer home to Nebraska.

The Cornhuskers have one of the largest fanbases in college sports and with a star like Bahl, there is going to be a lot of attention on the softball team. As Bahl explained, she’s excited to take the field for Nebraska in front of her home fans.

“I don’t know the Bahl effect, that’s kind of, I don’t know,” Jordy Bahl said. “But, it is very cool. I’m very excited for this program and this team and just this state. I think it’s going to be kind of just an emotional moment, taking the field and seeing Husker Nation show out for a softball team, but it’s something that is very, very exciting.”

Jordy Bahl pitched 10 innings in the Women’s College World Series Final, where she dominated the Florida State Seminoles, only allowing two hits in those two games. From May through the end of the season, Bahl allowed four total runs.

For Nebraska, Bahl is going to be an incredible addition to the softball program, likely to make the Cornhuskers a quick contender. Bahl knows this and has big goals for the program.

“The goal is to leave everything out there and see what happens. I’m a firm believer that the end is already written and with that, you just show up every day and give everything you have. It’s in the Lord’s hands,” Jordy Bahl said.

“It would be so cool to see Nebraska in the College World Series. Just make the run that I believe this team can make.”

What representing Nebraska means to Jordy Bahl

Representing her home state of Nebraska and growing the game of softball are incredibly important to Jordy Bahl.

“I was the little girl playing on little club teams around Nebraska and it was always super cool wearing Nebraska across your chest during the summer and then going to play in tournaments in California and play teams from big softball states like that. No one is really expecting anything from the team from Nebraska, it’s like you’re a true underdog. And so it was always cool getting to compete with the best of the best, and so that’s just a really cool feeling,” Bahl said.

“Also like I said, home has always been super important to me, and so even when I went down to OU it was hard because I never wanted to leave home. This place and these people mean so much to me and so it would just be so cool to just capitalize on what this team can do and have little girls dream of playing for this program.”
