Nebraska safety Corey Collier and linebacker Eric Fields have both entered their names into the transfer portal.

Collier has not been a part of the Cornhuskers’ program since mid-February. That ended his one year in Lincoln after transferring in following two seasons at Florida.

In total, Collier appeared in five games on defense and special teams last fall but put up no statistics.

Collier played high school football at Miami Palmetto in Florida. He was a four-star prospect and the No. 110 overall recruit in the 2021 cycle. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also rated as the No. 8 CB and the No. 16 player out of his state.

As for Fields, he redshirted in his first and only season with Nebraska. He participated on scout team but did not appear in any games this last year.

Fields played high school football at Ardmore over in Oklahoma. He was a three-star prospect there and the No. 923 overall recruit in 2023 per the On3 Industry Ranking. He ranked as a Top-100 LB and a Top-15 player from his state too.

Collier and Fields are just the seventh and eighth transfers from Nebraska this offseason. With them in, five of the eight are on the defensive side of the ball with three from the secondary, two corners and a safety, and a pair of linebackers.

For additions, the Cornhuskers have added six players to make up the No. 21 class per On3’s 2024 College Football Team Transfer Portal Rankings. Two of those play defense with one linebacker, Stefon Thompson (Syracuse), and one cornerback, Blye Hill (Saint Francis (PA)).
