Mickey Joseph spent the last eight seasons coaching in Louisiana.

As Nebraska‘s new associate head coach and wide receivers coach, Joseph is putting those previous connections to work in the Bayou State.

Joseph and Cornhuskers head coach Scott Frost were in Louisiana on Tuesday and they made their presence known, extending a plethora of others to some of the state’s best.

A quarterback at Nebraska in the late 1980s and early 1990s, Joseph returned to his alma last week after five seasons at LSU. He was the wide receivers coach during those five seasons.

He is known as a stout recruiter and developers — Ja’Marr Chase being his biggest success story — and his reputation in Louisiana could be huge for Nebraska’s recruiting class.

Nebraska offered at least six prospects Tuesday while the two were in the state.

While at Lake Charles (La.) Lake Charles College Prep, the Huskers offered four-star running back TreVonte’ Citizen, 2024 wide receiver Elijah Garrick and 2023 linebacker Kevon Freeman.

TreVonte’ Citizen is the No. 67 overall prospect in the country and No. 5 player from Louisiana, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Nebraska offered Shreveport (La.) Green Oaks four-star wide receiver Decoldest Crawford and then a few hours later decommitted from LSU.

Crawford has been committed to the Tigers for over two years.

Saint James (La.) St. James four-star wide receiver Shazz Preston and Baton Rouge (La.) Madison Prep Academy four-star defensive lineman Quency Wiggins also received offers from Nebraska.

Preston is the No. 38 overall recruit and Wiggins is the No. 76 overall recruit.

The Cornhuskers recruiting class is the worst in the Big Ten, ranking at No. 54 overall in the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking.

The class has no three-star prospects, or players ranked in the top 500 of the On3 Consensus. Columbus (Neb.) three-star linebacker Ernest Hausmann is the highest-rated player in the class at No. 544 in the country.
