Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day School quarterback Jadyn Davis is more than two years away from enrolling at a college, but he leads one of the country’s most intriguing recruitments.

Davis is the No. 1 overall prospect in the 2024 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He already holds nearly a dozen offers, including ones from Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Ohio State and North Carolina, where he will visit this weekend.

The 6-foot, 175-pounder recently moved into the Tar Heel State after spending his freshman and sophomore years at Catawba Ridge (S.C.).

Providence Day School is only 40 minutes from Davis’ home, which still allows him to remain near his family. But he chose to transfer for the opportunity to play under head coach Chad Grier. Grier is the father of former West Virginia star quarterback Will Grier, whom the elder Grier helped develop into a two-time North Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year as his coach at the high school level.

“It was a really hard decision for me because I love Catawba, and they’ve done so much for me,” Davis told Lettermen Row. “I have nothing but love for my teammates. Those are my guys, they’re some of my best friends and always will be. And I’ve got nothing but love and respect for [Catawba Ridge head coach Zac] Lendyak. He really helped me grow over the past couple of years. But, in the end, this was the right decision for me.”

The decision for him to move in North Carolina also doesn’t hurt the Tar Heels, whose campus is roughly two hours from Providence Day. However, they’re far from alone in putting the full-court press on Davis, though getting him on campus is always a good sign.
