The North Carolina Tar Heels can breathe a little bit after picking up the victory on Saturday against Clemson. North Carolina won the game decidedly with a 20-point victory, 91-71.

After the game, Tar Heels star forward Armando Bacot was all smiles as he spoke to the media. He particularly got a crack out of the question on how UNC bottles a performance like this moving forward.

“Pray,” said Bacot while chuckling. “Yeah, man, I mean just praying that we could put this together for the rest of the season. And hopefully, it can carry on. Clemson, they are a good team. They shoot the ball extremely well, and they defend. It’s hard to beat a team like that, but we beat them pretty badly.”

Bacot put together another impressive performance leading the Tar Heels in rebounds with 11. He was also North Carolina’s second-leading scorer in the game, with 19 points; registering yet another double-double on the season.

The win against Clemson is likely to boost north Carolinas NCAA tournament position, according to bracketology expert Joe Lunardi. Entering into the game, Lunardi had the Tar Heels in the “Last Four In” category and had their matchup against Clemson as a must-win game. Not only did Bacot and UNC pick up a much-needed win against a quality opponent, but they also did so in impressive fashion.

North Carolina knocks Clemson out of first place

Clemson is out of first place in the ACC for the first time this season after falling 91-71 at North Carolina Saturday afternoon.

The Tar Heels played like the ACC favorites that they were heading into the year, knocking down 15 3-pointers in their 20-point win.

Caleb Love led the way for UNC, finishing with 23 points, while making 6 of his 9 3-point attempts. Love has now topped the 20-point mark in three of the past four games.

“They played great today,” Clemson coach Brad Brownell said. “We knew today they were going to be highly motivated and on point and play with great energy and togetherness and they did. They shot the fire out of the ball, which helps.”
