Armando Bacot recently had a meeting with Hubert Davis about how he could get back on track, and it’s been vital for North Carolina.

In the time since, Bacot has helped the Tar Heels become one of the top teams in the nation, leading the charge for North Carolina’s continued success. After their victory over Virginia Tech over the weekend, Bacot spoke on his play since his meeting with Davis, and where North Carolina goes from here.

“Yeah, I mean Coach Davis, he’s a great coach and he’s always pushing me. Y’all know he’s always hard on me,” Bacot explained. “I mean, coming into this game, I knew I wanted to have a great game. Me, RJ [Davis], we knew, because we didn’t like what happened over in Syracuse, and I thought we did a great job of responding, but I think the main thing is just us carrying over, and keep stacking up good days in practice.

“I mean, we go play UVA. Y’all know that’s a tough team. It’s always ugly going and playing them with the way they defend. Personally, I hate playing against UVA, but if we play like this, we’ll have a good chance of winning.”

Alas, Bacot is looking forward to the rest of the grind for the Tar Heels. He’s come close to delivering a title to Chapel Hill in the past, and he wants to get back to that moment for North Carolina at the end of this season.

Moreover, the star forward spoke on what went into North Carolina’s win over the Hokies over the weekend, and how the Tar Heels were able to keep the main thing the main thing.

“Going into this game I really wanted to put on a great performance,” Bacot said on the ACC Network Broadcast. “My trainer, his mother, she passed away from cancer. I wanted to dedicate this game to her and make it special and the first half I started off good. I got in a little foul trouble, so the second half I was like, I gotta really push and I got to put on a performance.”

As far as the defense was concerned, Bacot acknowledged UNC did some good work. But as always, there’s room for improvement.

“It was better today but I still think it’s a lot of stuff we got to work on,” Bacot said. But going into this week, it’ll be great and I thought this was a great team with just how they run their sets. And you know how their coach do, they run amazing sets and are tough at first, but to keep them under like 80 points, I think that was very good.”

The sky is the limit for Armando Bacot and the Tar Heels if they can keep their focus. We’ll see how high they can climb over the next month and change.
