Nashville (Tenn.) CPA three-star linebacker Crews Law had a great feeling about North Carolina the first time he stepped on campus in Chapel Hill. That first visit led to another and another finally an official on June 9.

What Law experienced during the official on June 9 was more than enough for him to make up his mind as he committed to North Carolina.

“It checked every box for me,” Law told On3. “Obviously with football, they had a nine-win season last year and they’re far from satisfied with that. I’m a competitor and a winner who likes to win so that felt right. I believe that they’re going to keep winning and they’re not even close to their ceiling yet so I want to be a part of that.”

Playing for a former national championship-winning coach like Mack Brown is something that Law said really stuck out to him during the process.

Law knows how Brown turned Texas into a national title-contender year-in and year-out. He’s also watched him turn North Carolina around in the four years he’s been there.

“I believe he’s one of the best to ever coach the game,” said Law, the No. 735 player in the 2024 class. “My belief is that he’s going to get the job done there like he did at Texas and I believe that he’s already getting that work done. I believe in him for sure.

The pledge take a weight off Law’s shoulders

Law really saw his stock rise throughout his junior year as his list offers started off small and quickly expanded over a few short months. North Carolina got into the mix extending an offer to him during his first visit on Nov. 19.

The next few months Law experienced a lot of back-and-forth from several top programs. He eventually narrowed his list of schools down to Kentucky, Miami, Mississippi State, North Carolina and Vanderbilt.

He narrowed that list even further to just North Carolina and Vanderbilt choosing the Tar Heels over the hometown Commodores.

Making the final decision was one that Law admits wasn’t easy. It was one he feels comfortable with though as he enters his senior season.

“It was really important for me to get this decision out of the way,” Law said. “I’ve been wanting to get it over with and be committed. Now I can focus on my team and winning a state championship.”
