North Carolina forward Harrison Ingram chose an excellent moment to have his strongest performance of the season, posting up an impressive stat line in the Tar Heels’ 93-84 win over rival Duke at home on Saturday.

Saturday’s game marked the first UNC vs Duke rivalry game for Ingram, who spent the first two seasons of his college at Stanford. And directly following the game, Ingram was asked when he truly felt like he was a part of one of the most historic rivalries across the entire sports landscape.

“That first bucket when the crowd erupted I couldn’t hear anything. We were on defense, I was trying to call the coverage, he couldn’t hear what I was saying. It was crazy,” Ingram said.

Ingram ended the night with 21 points, hitting 66.7% of his shots on the night and burying five three-pointers from behind the arc. Also making his presence felt on defense with four steals and 13 rebounds to represent his seventh double-double of the season. As he continued to describe the electricity inside of the Smith Center in front of sold out crowd.

“It was great, I don’t even know what’s going on. I’m still blacked out right now, I don’t even know what’s going on,” Ingram admitted. “I was on the court having a good time, but just seeing all my fans, seeing all my friends, and seeing all my family out there. I mean you see how loud the crowd was, they had to have broken the sound barrier or something. I’m about to go to Franklin Street right now and see what all the fans are talking about.”

Ingram’s teammate Cormac Ryan was spotted celebrating with fans on Franklin Street following the game, a spectacle that Ingram could hopefully participate in as well following the duo ending up on the winning side of their first North Carolina versus Duke rivalry game.

Previously this week Ingram expressed that he was willing to do whatever the team needs of him, but after having his fingerprints all over Saturday’s win, he reacted to being one of the key contributors in a win that he’ll likely remember forever.

“It was amazing, I still don’t even know what’s going on right now. I’m kind of just feel like I’m in a movie, but at the end of the day, all my teammates we’re ready to go. I was getting open shots and I just knocked them in,” Ingram concluded.
