As part of her current College Football Playoff field reveal on Wednesday morning’s Get Up, ESPN’s Heather Dinich left off a certain Carolina school, which had Jeff Saturday up in arms

Upon unveiling her current CFP foursome, Get Up host Mike Greenberg noted that one of his co-hosts had a bone to pick with Dinich. Given that she left off an undefeated North Carolina team that just scored a big win over Miami, a former Tar Heel himself, Jeff Saturday, stepped up to ask:

“Heather, I see the ‘Noles at two. I wanna know about Tez ‘Game Changer’ Walker and the Tar Heels. I had my blues on yesterday, don’t have ’em on today. How close are we getting up to that conversation, Heather?”

At 6-0 and hot off a that victory over Miami, North Carolina and QB Drake Maye are surging towards the top of the playoff conversation. But they’re not quite on Heather Dinich’s radar yet. Here’s why:

“That’s a fair question and I love how much better their defense is playing this year,” responded Dinich. “But they have got to run the table. I don’t think North Carolina has any margin for error, in large part because of their schedule. But they have a lot of opportunities down the stretch to play their way into that conversation.”

If the Tar Heels do keep a clean sheet against their lesser schedule, then a CFP chance awaits them.

“If North Carolina’s in the ACC championship game, I absolutely think that they’ve got a shot at the top four. But there are other teams right now out there with better wins.”

Dinich not only left undefeated North Carolina off her list, she also boldly knocked 6-0 back-to-back national champion Georgia off the block. It was a real What Have You Done For Me Lately field, with Washington leading the way at No. 1 following their huge win vs. Oregon last weekend. Rounding out her four was Florida State, Oklahoma and Michigan

Among the teams on her College Football Playoff list, Washington clearly has the win over Oregon and will get several more chances at quality and ranked wins over the coming weeks. Meanwhile, Florida State has wins away from home against both LSU and Clemson — teams that aren’t top-10 or top-15 but still count as terrific victories regardless.

Meanwhile, Oklahoma had their coming out party in the Cotton Bowl with a narrow win over a top-five Texas squad. And then, Michigan also doesn’t have quality wins yet, but those will come and the Wolverines have been absolutely dominant against their competition thus far.
