North Carolina Tar Heels redshirt freshman star quarterback Drake Maye is receiving a ton of national attention resulting in more NIL deals for the young man. With all these newfound opportunities on the table, some have wondered whether or not he will transfer from North Carolina to a university with more star power in college football. Tar Heels head coach Mack Brown doesn’t see that being the case after sitting down and talking to his quarterback. Brown recently explained his conversation with Maye, revealing his mindset.

“I sat down and did lunch with one of our starters the other day, and I said, ‘Are you getting calls?’ He said, ‘Coach, I’ve got 15 places I can go.’ He said, ‘I’m not going anywhere.’ I said, ‘Are they offering you money?’ He said, ‘Yes, 100 percent,'” said Brown.

Maye is a North Carolina lifer born and raised. His father played quarterback at the university, and both of his brothers have played for other Tar Heel programs. With Drake Maye being born and raised in North Carolina blue, it looks like it’s going to take more than a few extra dollars to sway him if he can be swayed.

Maye named ACC Player of the Year

North Carolina redshirt freshman quarterback Drake Maye has been named the 2022 ACC Player of the Year.

Maye led the Tar Heels to a 9-3 regular season, clinching a Coastal Division title and is set to take on Clemson this weekend for the ACC Championship. Under Maye’s leadership, the legacy gunslinger led the country in individual total offense.
