Mack Brown didn’t mince words with the media regarding the coverage of wide receiver Kobe Paysour’s injury over the last couple of days.

The North Carolina pass catcher will reportedly miss the Duke’s Mayo Bowl versus the West Virginia Mountaineers with a foot injury. However, Brown claimed there was misinformation circulating regarding the wide receiver’s injury, and he made sure to stamp it out during his press conference earlier this week.

“Very disappointed that some misinformation came out on Kobe Paysour,” Brown said. “In your business, you should be right before you report it. Somebody said it was the same ankle he got hurt before. There were accusations that we put him out there too soon. None of that’s true. He fractured a foot before. It’s the other foot, on the other side. It’s exactly the same injury. But that’s not fair to the kid. That’s not fair to his parents.

“I was in your business for five years. Get it right. I mean, that’s important. We do things wrong as coaches. If you don’t report it right, that’s not fair to anybody.”

Obviously, Brown was hot about the matter. He’s lost his wide receiver to another freak injury, so it’s understandable why he was already on edge. Nevertheless, he continued to provide some more information on the matter, while also giving the media some advice for the future.

“It’s totally the same injury on the other foot. He’ll have to have his operation today. He’ll be back for spring practice, but he’s very disappointed that he’ll miss the game,” Brown added. “It’s so interesting. He’s been here for a long time. He’s been hit a bunch. Hadn’t been hurt. This was a non-contact injury again. Catching a flat route on the goal line, just turned backwards and hurt it.

“So very disappointing for him. But again, please call and check. Get it right before we start releasing stuff.”

On the season, Paysour has caught 22 passes for 282 receiving yards and three touchdowns. He’s been a bright spot in the Tar Heels offense when on the field. Missing him is going to be a huge blow against the Mountaineers.

Regardless, we’re willing to bet Mack Brown will have his team roaring and ready to take on West Virginia when the time comes. It should be a riveting matchup between North Carolina and their Big 12 opponent, and the Tar Heels will be looking to win for Kobe Paysour.
