Four-star linebacker Jaiden Ausberry of Baton Rouge (LA) University Lab announced his commitment to Notre Dame Thursday evening.

The 6-foot-1, 210 pounder chose the Fighting Irish over LSU, Michigan, Auburn, Texas A&M, Florida, and Alabama.

Ausberry on why he chose Notre Dame

“The coaching staff and the relationships that I had with everyone in the program,” Ausberry said. “They have everything I need, on and off the field, to be successful.”

Tight relationship with coaching staff + Notre Dame’s plan for Ausberry

““My family and I have been very close with coach Freeman and coach Washington,” Ausberry said. “When I met coach Golden, we immediately connected. I have also had a good long relationship with Chad Bowden and he has been involved in my recruitment for a while.”

“Notre Dame plans to use me at all 3 linebacker positions and as a 3 down, versatile linebacker.”

The Louisiana linebacker joins Notre Dame’s No.2 class in the 2023 team rankings.

Jaiden Ausberry Scouting Summary

“Instinctive linebacker whose field vision allows him to play fast. Keys and diagnoses faster than everyone on the field. Excellent trigger and ability to sort through the trash to meet ball carriers in the hole. Measured at around 6-foot-0.5, 205 pounds with a 31.75-inch arm prior to his senior season. Lacks ideal length and will need to add mass throughout his frame to play in the box consistently. Looks to have strong intangibles which will allow him to see the field sooner than most. Ran an 11.67 second 100 meter time and jumped a 20-foot-2 long jump during his junior track and field season. Could develop into an every down defender once he grows into his frame. Plays his high school ball in LSU’s backyard. Father, Verge Ausberry, played linebacker at LSU in the late 80’s and currently acts as LSU’s Executive Deputy Athletic Director.”

Ausberry ranks as the No. 117 player in the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that accounts for all four major recruiting sites. He also tabs in as the No. 10 linebacker and the No. 7 player in the state of Louisiana.
