Four-star safety Adon Shuler has committed to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, he announced Sunday at 4:00 PM EST on CBS Sports HQ.

The Irvington High School (Irvington, N.J.) athlete, who was being recruited as a safety, chose Notre Dame over Penn State and Maryland.

Below is the announcement via Twitter from Hayes Fawcett, On3’s national college football recruiting social media expert.

He spoke about the Irish recently with 247sports’ Brian Dohn.

“Notre Dame is a cool school,” Shuler said. “Notre is Notre Dame. They have the four (years) for 40 (years). All schools have that, but that was real good. It’s a rich culture. Everything they have been doing in the past years is going to continue. That is a big thing about Notre Dame. The coaching staff is good. They do their fair share of recruiting.”

Notre Dame offered Shuler in late May 2021, and he immediately began building a relationship with the Fighting Irish and defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman.

Shuler is ranked as a four-star prospect in the 2023 recruiting cycle, according to Rivals.com and 247sports.com. Shuler is a standout track athlete as well, he ran an 11.89 second 100-meter dash as a sophomore. The Irvington, New Jersey native also competed in the triple jump and the long jump.

Other schools that offered Shuler were Boston College, Cincinnati, Florida, and Georgia Tech. He piled up 14 offers from a number of different schools across the country.

Adon Shuler checks in at 6-feet, 190 pounds and is rated as the 15th best safety prospect in America for the 2023 class, according to Rivals.com. He’s currently rated as the 213th best overall prospect in the country for the 2023 recruiting cycle.
