Four-star wide receiver Braylon James of Round Rock (Texas) Stony Point High announced his commitment to Notre Dame Tuesday afternoon.

The 6-foot-3, 185 pounder chose the Fighting Irish over TCU and Stanford.

James discussed his decision to ultimately choose Notre Dame.

Life after football, Notre Dame’s network, and the way he was recruited stood out to Braylon James

“Definitely the opportunity to be successful once football ends,” James said. “I mean the degree speaks for itself, but one thing not a lot of people know about ND is their network. There’s lots of people backing Notre Dame football financially and when you think about NIL it’s REAL there but that’s not nearly the main reason I’m choosing to go there. Freeman and Chansi Stuckey have actively recruited me once they took over at Notre Dame and they made me feel like a necessity, not a want!”

James’ relationship with Marcus Freeman and Stuckey was like no other

“Out of all of the coaches I’ve gotten to speak to throughout this whole recruiting process, I’d say that he (Freeman) was one of the ones who was genuinely interested in my interest outside of football,” James said. “Being honest 99% of our conversations were about my passions off the field and that instantly spoke to me as a recruit. Same thing goes with Stuckey, he took the time out to build deep relationships with my family and me as well. None of our conversations were EVER surface level. Everything felt real and natural and those are the type of people you wanna play for.”

James ranks as the No. 107 player in the On3 Consensus. He also tabs in at the No. 19 wide receiver and the No. 20 player in the state of Texas.

Braylon James joins Notre Dame’s 2023 class, which ranks No. 2 behind USC in the On3 Consensus Team Rankings, alongside Keon Kee, Peyton Bowen, Drake Bowen, and others.
