West Roxbury (Mass.) Catholic Memorial four-star offensive lineman Guerby Lambert is nearing a decision in his recruitment, as he told On3’s Chad Simmons earlier this week.

The 6-foot-6, 290-pounder is one of the nation’s elite recruits, ranking as the No. 51 overall prospect and No. 4 offensive tackle in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

And with a decision expected as soon as this month, Notre Dame is trending ahead of the pack for Lambert in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).

Following expert picks over the past three weeks from Notre Dame insider Mike Singer and Penn State insider Sean Fitz, the Fighting Irish hold a 96.8 percent chance of securing Lambert’s eventual commitment.

Notre Dame a ‘tight-knit community’

Lambert took official visits last month to Notre Dame, as well as Ohio State, Harvard and Boston College.

With the Irish, Lambert noted to Simmons the similarities between Notre Dame and Boston’s Catholic Memorial. He emphasized that both are smaller schools with a “tight-knit community,” and that he gets the same “vibes” at Notre Dame as he does his school.

“The coaches, Coach (Marcus) Freeman and Coach (Joe) Rudolph, they’re amazing people and just the whole coaching staff in general,” Lambert said. “Their players as well. When I went there, they were a group of players I could see myself around. And obviously, they have great academics there and amazing football.”

Guerby Lambert has Notre Dame at the top

The elite offensive tackle also already has a connection in South Bend. Former Catholic Memorial teammate Boubacar Traore is an incoming freshman at Notre Dame and was a four-star defensive line prospect in the 2023 cycle.

“We were getting pretty close,” Lambert said. “At the end of the year, obviously, he got hurt and that hurt a little bit. It will be good to be teammates probably again.”

As Lambert nears his decision, communication with coaches at each of his top schools has slowed down due to a July dead period but is still prevalent. All are chasing the Irish.

“The academics, the relationships and the community have Notre Dame up there for me. The campus is nice too and it just reminds me a lot of my high school.”
