Notre Dame lands transfer commitment from Duke EDGE RJ Oben

Former Duke EDGE defender RJ Oben has picked a new home after entering the transfer portal. According to On3’s Hayes Fawcett, he will play for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish next season.

Oben spent five total years in Durham with the Blue Devils, where he put together three very productive years in a row before deciding to move on. In each of 2021, 2022 and 2023, Oben recorded north of 17 tackles along with at lest 5.5 tackles for loss and at least 4.0 sacks in each season too. Through 12 games in 2023, Oben exceeded those marks and hit his career-high in sacks with 5.0.

He played high school football in New Jersey at St. Peters Prep, where he was a three-star recruit in the 2019 class, per the On3 Industry Rankings. Oben was also rated as the No. 866 overall player and the No. 18 player out of New Jersey for his cycle.
