After receiving an offer from Notre Dame earlier this month, Hayward (Calif.) Tennyson four-star wide receiver Taeshaun Lyons has locked in an official visit with the Fighting Irish.

Lyons announced Wednesday on Twitter that he will be in South Bend the weekend of Sept. 17 when Notre Dame hosts Cal.

Marcus Freeman and Co. have been heavily trending in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) for Lyons since extended him an offer on August 9. The Fighting Irish currently hold a 97.6 percent chance of securing his commitment.

Lyons is the No. 355 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 50 wide receiver and No. 24 prospect in California.

According to the Industry Comparison though, On3 is much higher on him than any other major recruiting service. In the most recent On300 rankings, he was tabbed as the country’s No. 191 prospect, No. 28 wideout and No. 12 senior in the state.

Lyons has only taken one other official visit, a trip this summer to Washington.

Taeshaun Lyons Scouting Summary

“Wiry wideout with super smooth movement patterns and big-play ability. Has a thin frame, measuring at over 6-foot-2 and around 160 pounds prior to his senior season. Registers as a good athlete, running an 11.03 second 100 meter time in addition to a 4.64 electronically-timed 40-yard dash as a junior. Dominates average to subpar competition on Friday nights.

… Accounted for 955 yards and 16 touchdowns on just 31 catches as a junior. A threat to score every time he touches the ball at the high school level. A naturally smooth mover and has advanced routes and on-field change of direction at this stage. Shows the ability to separate within his routes in the camp setting. Ball skills are not a question, but can struggle with finishing through contact due to his relative lack of strength. Will need to continue adding mass at the college level.”
