Memphis (Tenn.) Lausanne Collegiate School four-star quarterback Brock Glenn called the last few weeks of his recruiting process “insane.” His five finalists — AuburnFlorida StateLSUOhio State and TCU — gave him a lot to think about.

Glenn’s decision came down to multiple factors including what he wanted out of his college experience and which school could best position him to pursue a career in the NFL. He felt like the Buckeyes were the right program to help him achieve those goals. So on Saturday afternoon, Glenn committed to Ohio State, becoming the first quarterback in the Buckeyes’ 2023 recruiting class.

“I think the offense at Ohio State fits me perfectly,” Glenn told On3. “I saw so many formations and plays that look very, very similar to what we do here at Lausanne.”

Ohio State appealed to Glenn for multiple reasons. The opportunity to develop under head coach Ryan Day and quarterbacks coach Corey Dennis, contend for a national championship annually and suit up for a program with a successful track record of sending players to the NFL all stood out to the signal caller.

After the Buckeyes offered Glenn on June 7, he didn’t know if he was going to make a trip to Columbus. But Glenn knew he couldn’t pass up the opportunity. He ended up loving his June 17 official visit.

Ohio State was working hard to land Glenn’s commitment in the following days. Coaches would check in often and ask how everything was going. Eventually, those relationships and what the Buckeyes could offer made Glenn realize that he wanted to play for the scarlet-and-grey.

“They made me feel special,” said Glenn, the No. 375 overall prospect and No. 20 quarterback in the 2023 On3 Consensus.

Day and Dennis make the difference for Glenn

Committing to the Buckeyes means Glenn will go under the tutelage of two of the top offensive coaches in college football. Day and Dennis have worked with quarterbacks including Chicago Bears starter Justin Fields, Heisman Trophy finalist C.J. Stroud and former five-star recruits Devin Brown and Kyle McCord. Glenn will be next when he arrives on campus.

The 6-foot-1.5, 195 pound signal caller believes that the two coaches will make him the best player and person he can be. Glenn already feels comfortable around Day and Dennis and added that they all work well together.

“I’m extremely confident in coach Day and coach Dennis,” Glenn said. “I think they truly believe in me and I truly believe in them. Just talking ball with them on the board and watching film with them while I was on my visit just really stood out to me, how much they know about football and development and stuff like that. I think their work goes by example. They don’t have to say anything. You look at them and know that they’re going to produce quarterbacks every year.

“And they have in the past and I think they will continue to do so because they’re coaching on the field, but as well as in life. They’re making their players so much better people as well as playing on the field.”

Day’s humble nature also stood out to Glenn. He already feels like he can tell his future head coach anything.

“I was on my visit, sitting in his office. I was comfortable,” Glenn said. “I didn’t feel like I had to do anything out of the ordinary to please him. He’s just kind of laid back and going with the flow. And I just felt home.”

Glenn excited to team up with Buckeyes’ 2023 class

Ohio State’s status as a national championship contender stands out to Glenn. So does the Buckeyes’ ability to land top players from all across the country.

Three of the top 10 wide receivers, two of the top 10 tight ends and the No. 2 interior offensive lineman in the On3 Consensus are currently committed to the Buckeyes’ 2023 class. The talent joining Glenn in Columbus excites him “a lot.”

“That’s important, definitely having good players around you helps the quarterback, especially o-line, especially receiver,” Glenn said. “Being able to know and trust that you can throw it up to a receiver and they’re gonna make a play, that’s super important and that helps the quarterback out a lot. That takes a lot of his shoulders, just knowing he has receivers that he can trust.”

Another factor of Glenn’s decision-making process was seeing how he connected with the people in the program. He felt a bond with multiple players, which he helped realize that Ohio State is the right place for the next chapter of his football career.

“I loved the players that were already there, too,” Glenn said. “I felt like I fit in with them.”
