The start of a monster two-game stretch for the Ohio State Buckeyes begins this weekend with Michigan State. It also begins with quarterback Devin Brown – one of the few remaining top targets on the Buckeyes’ board – making an official visit.

Brown, the No. 59 player according to the On3 Consensus, is committed to USC. But until the Trojans have a coach, other schools – namely Ole Miss, Texas, Ohio State, BYU and UCLA – aren’t going to stop pursuing him.

Devin Brown raved about his official visit in October to Ole Miss, and he also gave the visit last weekend to Texas high marks.

“Coach Sarkisian’s resume definitely speaks for itself,” Brown told Inside Texas’ Justin Wells. “He’s coached the best of the best. For him to see me as a guy that he would want to develop says a lot to me. When I visit a school, it’s about meeting a coach in person. Seeing how I feel like I could mesh with that coach and thrive under that coach and his staff. As for Coach Sarkisian’s message to me, all I would ever want to from a coach is that I would be given a fair opportunity to compete for a job.”

Ohio State’s turn to impress Devin Brown

Now it’s the Buckeyes turn to impress Devin Brown, a four-star signal-caller from Draper (Utah) Corner Canyon.

“Devin Brown, along with Penn State commit Drew Allar, has become a priority for Ohio State in its 2022 recruiting class,” Lettermen Row’s Jeremy Birmingham said. “The Buckeyes believed they were set at the position until the reclassification of Quinn Ewers. Now they’re working to fill that spot again.

“Ohio State quarterbacks coach Corey Dennis has been working hard on the relationship with Brown in the last two-plus months. This weekend will have to be a home run of the Buckeyes want to pull off the upset.”

Brown says all the right things about USC. But who the Trojans hire likely will go a long way toward where he officially lands. His recruitment feels like one that has plenty of twists left before he signs with somebody.

That’s why On3’s flip forecast says there’s a 40% chance that Brown decommits in the most recent update.
