Quinshon Judkins may have transferred to Ohio State but he did not officially become a member of the program until Tuesday. The Ole Miss transfer running back lost his black stripe, joining fellow transfer Caleb Downs and true freshman Jeremiah Smith. A big day for Judkins as he prepares for the 2024 season in Columbus.

However, Judkins’ mom, Teva, still has to put some rumors to bed the day he lost his black stripe. Quote tweeting an account claiming Judkins wanted to transfer back to Ole Miss to play for Lane Kiffin, Teva shut down the idea. She even laughed the idea off, wanting to celebrate her son’s accomplishment “in peace.”

“He wants to come back (laughing emoji) (laughing emoji) !?!? Can we celebrate losing the black stripe in peace! Go Bucks,” she said via X.

Judkins burst onto the college football scene as a true freshman, going for over 1,500 yards and 16 touchdowns during the 2022 season. There was no sophomore slump either with 1,158 yards and 15 scores this past year.

However, rumors of tension began to pop up between Judkins and those inside the program. His name then popped up in the NCAA transfer portal, making him one of the best available this offseason. Ohio State is glad he decided to leave Ole Miss.

Leaving a place only to return would have been a crazy idea just a couple of weeks ago. But we saw that exact scenario unfold with offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor. When Nick Saban retired, he entered the portal and committed to Iowa. Before ever participating in a spring practice, Proctor announced his intentions to leave the Hawkeyes and return to Alabama.

At least according to his mother, Judkins will not be pulling a similar move. The black stripe is off his helmet and hoping to help Ohio State compete for a national championship this season.

“You know, I’ve done some great things at Ole Miss,” Judkins said in late January. “I learned a lot. But just for me in my third year, you want to be somewhere at a place like Ohio State. Great culture, great teammates, great coaches. The best players and the best fanbase.”

Judkins will share a backfield with Treveyon Henderson in 2024 and likely create the most dynamic duo in all of college football. Ole Miss has their own running back group they feel good about as both parties are likely happy in current situations.
