Ohio State has started recruiting Grenta (Neb.) three-star quarterback Zane Flores, according to Mitch Sherman of The Athletic.

Sherman reports that Flores recently talked with Buckeyes quarterback coach Corey Dennis.

Flores is the No. 644 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

On3 rates him as a high three-star recruit and the No. 20 quarterback in the class. Lincoln (Neb.) Lincoln East four-star athlete Malachi Coleman is lone recruit from Nebraska ranked ahead of him by On3.

He has offers from Kansas, Kansas StateOklahoma StateBowling Green and Memphis.

Zane Flores led Grenta (Neb.) High to its first state championship. On the year, he totaled 36 touchdowns, 26 through the air and another 10 on the ground. He has been Gretna’s starting quarterback since his freshman year.

“He’s a quarterback that really knows the game of football,” Gretna head coach Mike Kayl told BVM Sports about his starting quarterback. “Zane’s very easy to coach because he wants to learn. He’s very competitive and he’s extremely humble despite having all the success that he’s had; he keeps a level head”.

Ohio State has the No. 4 class in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking. Findlay (Ohio) High four-star interior offensive lineman Luke Montgomery is the highest-ranked recruit in the class at No. 35 in the On3 Consensus.

He also currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $36k. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
