It was a scary scene when Ohio State running back Miyan Williams was carted off the field against Indiana on Saturday afternoon. But by the time the game ended — a Buckeye beatdown on Indiana — head coach Ryan Day wasn’t overly worried about the back.

Williams eventually came out of the locker room and was on the sideline in street clothes with a walking boot on. Day said they’ll assess things on Sunday after Williams gets a night of rest, but he doesn’t expect it to be “long term.”

“I don’t think that these — hopefully these are going to be some things that we can overcome here in a short period of time,” Day said. “Great to see our depth show up. We’ll have to see. But it didn’t look like, based on what we saw here in the locker room, that it was going to be something that was going to be really long term.”

Ohio State was already without starting running back TreVeyon Henderson this week, as he’s continued to be banged up this year. As with Williams, Day is hopeful to get him back soon.

Just how soon remains to be seen, though Day said Henderson could be back for a matchup against Maryland next Saturday.

“So we’ll see how he feels overnight,” Day said about Williams, “and then hoping to get Tre back for next week.”

Day said during the game that Williams would not return

According to Day via FOX’s Jenny Taft, Williams was out for the remainder of the game against Indiana.

Coming back from the halftime break, Taft revealed the information that all Buckeyes fans feared.

“Coach Day was concerned, and Miyan Williams is out for the rest of the game,” reported Taft. “I think unfortunately we did anticipate that, and Coach Day said right now, I’m a bit concerned about that depth.

“He does expect Dallan Hayden to need to step up, but yes, the run game is something this team is worried about.”
