On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine: Oklahoma trending with elite WR Bryant Wesco
Midlothian (Texas) four-star wide receiver Bryant Wesco is as coveted of a recruit as there is in the Lone Star in 2024.
Arkansas, Clemson, Colorado, LSU, Nebraska, Oklahoma, TCU and Texas make up his current top eight schools, but one program is now trending heavily to land him, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).
After an expert pick in Oklahoma’s favor from On3 national recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman, the Sooners hold a 94.8 percent chance of securing a commitment from Wesco.
The 6-foot-2, 180-pound Wesco is the No. 30 overall prospect and No. 9 wide receiver in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 6 player in Texas.
On3 rates Wesco higher than other recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. Per the 2024 On300, Wesco is the No. 26 overall prospect in the country, the No. 6 wide receiver and No. 7 player in Texas.
Oklahoma has long been involved with Bryant Wesco
The Sooners were just the third program to offer Wesco back in June 2022 — and have made him one of their top priorities since, even when he wasn’t a highly ranked recruit. The long game has paid off, it seems.
Last month, On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons added that he believed the Sooners were ahead of the pack in the race to land Wesco.
“He has visited Oklahoma multiple times, including a trip to Norman in January,” Simmons wrote. “He is planning to get back this spring, possibly for the spring game next month. Emmett Jones is his lead recruiter and their relationship goes back to when Jones was at Texas Tech. Others are in the mix, but I like where Oklahoma sits with the four-star wide receiver out of Midlothian (Texas).”
Wesco doesn’t currently have any official visits set, but did tell On3’s Billy Embody that he plans to use two of them at Clemson and Oklahoma.
The Sooners currently have three commitments in the 2024 class and rank No. 25 nationally in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Two of the Sooners’ three commits rank as four-star prospects, with four-star cornerback Jeremiah Newcombe checking as the nation’s No. 24 player at his position and quarterback Michael Hawkins ranking as the No. 21 passer in the country.
Wesco finished his junior season 58 receptions for 1,160 yards and 14 touchdowns, including 93-yard touchdown reception, and averaged 20 yards per catch.
