Class of 2024 OT Daniel Akinkunmi commits to Oklahoma

Three-star offensive tackle Daniel Akinkunmi of London (England) NFL Academy announced his commitment to Oklahoma Thursday morning.

The 6-foot-5, 300 pounder chose the Sooners over Clemson and Baylor.

“The Arkansas State game really showed me how much this team has improved and how bad they want it. I want to go to a program which has a culture of winning and OU does. To hear the story about coach V and how he has helped out multiple players as a coach was amazing to hear. It didn’t feel like a pitch, it felt like a man to man talk. It was the most real conversation I have ever had out of my recruiting journey.”

His relationship with the coaching staff and their plan for him stood out as well.

“My relationship with coach Venables and coach B is amazing. Anytime I talk to them it’s like talking to my brother. I love coach Venables’ energy and drive he is a real and honest man I’m definitely closest with him. Coach B is an great coach. He has so much experience and knowledge. The passion he has for the game is amazing I absolutely love it. I have been told that I’m most likely to be playing my first year as left or right tackle.

The England offensive tackle joins coach Brent Venables and the Sooners’ top 10 class in the 2024 team rankings. He is accompanied by five-star defensive lineman David Stone, four-star running back Taylor Tatum and others.
