5-star DL David Stone visits Oklahoma

IMG Academy five-star defensive lineman David Stone visited Oklahoma on Monday. It marked his first trip to back to Norman since last November.

Stone is the No. 12 overall prospect and No. 2 defensive lineman in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 3 player in Florida.

The 6-foot-4.5, 283-pound defender holds several Power Five offers offers. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction MachineMichigan State holds a narrow lead Oklahoma to land Stone’s commitment.

Stone currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $285K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Stone’s busy spring

Stone’s had a busy start to the new year visiting Michigan State three times in January as well as Washington on Jan. 24. He’s set to return to East Lansing on March 16.

“I feel like those two places are something just a little bit more,” Stone recently told On3 about Michigan State and Oklahoma. “I feel I’ll get a chance to go see (them). I’m going back to Michigan State with my family again, get my dad out there to see if he likes it.”

Former Michigan State pass rush specialist Brandon Jordan was named the new Seattle Seahawks pass rush specialist on March 4. It was the second coaching change Michigan State has experienced in the new year as their defensive line coach Marco Coleman took the same position at Georgia Tech.

“Our relationship was the reason I was planning to commit to MSU,” Stone said following Coleman’s departure. “Things will definitely be different now.”

So far this spring Stone’s visited Texas A&M (March), Florida (March 9) and LSU (March 11) and Oklahoma
