The NFL offseason has yet to officially get underway, but one free agent has already received some bad news regarding his 2022 season. According to NFL reporter Tom Pelissero, the NFL will suspend defensive end, Amani Bledsoe, for the first six games of the 2022 season.

The news hit the NFL news wire late in the afternoon on Tuesday after Bledsoe was cited for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing drug policy.

“ Bledsoe’s suspension was for violating the performance-enhancing drug policy, per source. He also lost a season of eligibility in college for a positive PED test. Bledsoe spent last season with the #Titans,” wrote Pelissero,” via Twitter.

This is not Bledsoe’s first run-in with a performance-enhancing drug violation. In college, while playing for the Oklahoma Sooners, he was suspended his entire sophomore season; after he tested positive for a banned substance. Bledsoe attempted to sue the NCAA in hopes of restoring his eligibility but was unsuccessful and elected to declare for the NFL draft. He ended up going undrafted in the 2019 draft and spent his rookie season on the Titans’ practice squad. Afterward, he spent one year with Cincinnati before returning to the Titans this past season.

The former Oklahoma Sooner defender likely had plans to find a long-term home this offseason. But now those plans will be put on hold for a while. He can still possibly get a look or two from teams as a solid rotational defensive lineman, but this suspension will make it a difficult offseason for Bledsoe.

Seattle Seahawks in talks with former Texas Longhorn

Texas Longhorns fans may want to start paying close attention to the Seattle Seahawks in the NFL.

According to a report from Corbin Smith, who covers the Seahawks for Sports Illustrated, the organization has opened negotiations with safety Quandre Diggs with hopes of re-signing him.

As Smith notes, Seattle is going into free agency with the hopes of keeping its secondary in tact. That would include finding the money to pay both Diggs and D.J. Reed, while also hoping to find a way to keep Sidney Jones in-house.

The former Texas Longhorns star has shined since joining the Seattle Seahawks in 2019. Before joining the Seahawks he spent his first five NFL seasons with the Detroit Lions. Diggs recorded five interceptions in back-to-back seasons in Seattle and is regarded as one of the top players at his position.
