George Washington guard Joe Bamisile will transfer to Oklahoma, per CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein. Because Bamisile is a two-time transfer, he will need a waiver from the NCAA to be eligible to play next season.

The 6-foot-4, 195-pound guard began his college career at Virginia Tech in 2020 as the No. 25 ranked point guard in the class according to On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average. He appeared in 13 games for the Hokies, averaging 3.5 points before transferring to George Washington in the offseason.

This past year with the Colonials, Bamisile started 29 games to finish second on the team in scoring with 16.3 points per game while shooting 35.1% from 3-point range. He was named third-team All-Atlantic 10 for his efforts, as he ranked fourth among all conference players in scoring.

“It’s a good fit and a good situation,” Bamisile told Rothstein on Monday. “The location is a little better for me — playing in a college town versus in a big city. Coach (Porter) Moser is also a proven coach. He’s led a team to the Final Four already when he was at Loyola Chicago.”

Moser is coming off of his inaugural season in Norman after leading the Sooners to a 19-16 finish. Oklahoma did not make the NCAA Tournament, but earned a No. 1 seed in the NIT. After taking care of Missouri State in the opening round, OU then lost to St. Bonaventure in the second.

The news of the transfer commitment from Joe Bamisile comes the same day that Sooners guard Elijah Harkless announced he would enter his name in the transfer portal. Harkless began his collegiate career at Cal State Northridge, where he played 51 games. After the 2019-2020 season, Harkless transferred to Oklahoma. He has been a key player for the Sooners ever since.

This past season, Harkless played in 26 games with 23 starts, averaging 10 points, 4.1 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.3 steals in 29 minutes per game. Harkless is a career 43.4% shooter, including 33% from three-point range. He now becomes another talented addition to the transfer portal wire.

With Bamisile now on board, the Sooners have another scoring threat on their roster as they aim to make it back to the tournament in 2022-23.
