The Oklahoma Sooners torched the nets on Saturday night, shooting a scorching hot 69 percent from three-point range. They hit 9 of their 13 shots from beyond-the-arc en route to a 93-69 beatdown against the nation’s second-ranked team, the Alabama Crimson Tide. Following the impressive victory, Oklahoma Sooners’ head coach Porter Moser and his players celebrated with a water shower in the locker room.

The loss snapped a nine-game winning streak for the Crimson Tide as they fell to 18-3 on the season. The game was part of the SEC/Big 12 Challenge, which has belonged to the Big 12 early on. The conference owns a 3-1 record in Saturday’s games with six more contests to go.

Senior forward Jaylen Hill finished with a career-high 26 points on 9-of-11 shooting to go with eight boards in the win. He wasn’t even the highest scorer for Oklahoma, as guard Grant Sherfield poured in a season-high 30 points, which is just one point shy of his career high. Tanner Groves added a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.

The Sooners shot 57.6% from from the floor, including 68% in the first half. Thanks to that strong start, Oklahoma led Alabama 50-33 at halftime and never really looked back. Although the Crimson Tide cut the deficit down to 11 in the second, the Sooners quickly took control again and led by as many as 32 on their way to the 24-point win.

The victory snapped a three-game losing streak for Oklahoma, which improved to 12-9 overall. Coming down from the emotional upset win, the Sooners have another big matchup on Feb. 1, when they host Oklahoma State in the Bedlam rivalry at 8 p.m. CT.
