Brent Venables addresses final Bedlam game in Big 12

This Saturday, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State will meet for Bedlam. This is the last time that it will be a conference game, something that Sooners’ head coach Brent Venables is acutely aware of going into the game.

Despite that, it doesn’t feel like a strange situation for Venables because he’s doing his best to stay in the moment and not worry about it being the last Bedlam game as Big 12 schools.

“Not really because it’s the next game,” Brent Venables said. “It’s Oklahoma State. It doesn’t feel weird because you’re not into the future.”

There is still a lot on the line for both Oklahoma and Oklahoma State in Bedlam this season. The Sooners can’t afford a second loss if they want to have any shot at making the College Football Playoff. However, both teams are also in the hunt for the Big 12 Championship Game, which this game could be vital for.

“I don’t know if that makes any sense, but it doesn’t feel weird, it just feels like it’s Oklahoma State, and it’s a big game and we need to find a way to win,” Venables said.

“So, you’re more concerned about things that took place last week that you got to get better and who’s gonna be available and what kind of schemes you need to have to have a chance to win the game in all three phases. So, we’ve got too many other concerns to really think about the future, to be very honest with you.”
