After a bit of a slow start to the 2024 recruiting cycle, Oklahoma picked up some momentum Friday afternoon landing a commitment from Fulton (Miss.) Itawamba Agricultural three-star offensive tackle Isaiah Autry.

Autry’s pledge elevated the Sooners’ 2024 recruiting class to No. 21 in the 2024 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Oklahoma’s group, which also ranks No. 11 in the SEC, rose four spots from No. 25.

The 6-foot-7, 275-pounder is the No. 531 overall prospect and No. 35 offensive tackle in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 17 player in Mississippi.

He picked the Sooners over Alabama, Auburn, Florida State and Ole Miss.

Autry took his first visit to Norman on March 24 and a day later he announced that the Sooners had extended him an offer.

“They’ve been showing interest for a while,” Autry told On3 after the visit. “The o-line coach (Bill Bedenbaugh) there, he’s been following me and texting me and everything for a good while.”

Isaiah Autry currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $23K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Sooners picking up momentum in the spring

Oklahoma wrapped up the 2023 recruiting cycle with the No. 7 class in the country and No. 2 class in the Big 12. That class was highlighted by three five-star prospects in quarterback Jackson Arnold, EDGE Adepoju Adebawore and safety Peyton Bowen.

The 2024 class has a long way to get remotely close to the 2023 group but they’ve begun to pick up some steam.

Queen Creek (Ariz.) Casteel four-star cornerback Jeremiah Newcombe is the Sooners’ highest-ranked commitment so far at No. 271 in the nation. He was also their first pledge announcing his commitment on March 25.

The Sooners landed their quarterback of the cycle two weeks after Newcombe’s commitment with a pledge from Michael Hawkins, a four-star prospect out of McKinney (Texas). Franklinton (La.) three-star wide receiver Kelly Daniels announced his commitment to the Sooners on April 17.
