Oklahoma coach Porter Moser got himself a signature win in a big way Saturday as the Sooners blew out No. 2 Alabama at the Lloyd Noble Center. When the final buzzer sounded, the students wasted no time storming the court.

As the teams lined up for the postgame handshake, security got in front of them as the Oklahoma student section swarmed the court in celebration of the huge 93-69 victory in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge. The Sooners entered the day with an 11-9 overall record, a 2-6 record in Big 12 play and in the midst of a three-game losing streak.

All of that was washed away as they handed Alabama its first loss since Christmas.

Just as it was at his prior stop at Loyola Chicago, student support has been a key part of Moser’s plan to build Oklahoma in his second year at the helm. He got plenty of support for Saturday’s game, as evidenced by how many students were on the court for the celebration.

The Sooners got huge performances from Grant Sherfield and Jalen Hill, who combined for 56 points — 30 from Sherfield and 26 from Hill — to lead the high-powered offensive attack. Tanner Groves also had a big day for Oklahoma, totaling 14 points and 12 rebounds.

As a team, Oklahoma shot 56.7% from the field, including a 9-for-12 showing from three-point distance, to cruise to the victory. Alabama, meanwhile, was stymied by the Sooners defense as it shot just 37.9% from the floor and 27.3% from downtown.

The Oklahoma win made it a 2-0 advantage for the Big 12 in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge. Now, the Sooners will try to build off their marquee victory when they take on Oklahoma State Feb. 1. Tip-off for that game is set for 9 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
