Before the season even ends, the coaching carousel is heating up in college basketball. The noise surrounding Oklahoma‘s Porter Moser and DePaul was getting louder, specifically on social media. So much so that Moser felt the need to address the situation on social media Monday night.

Moser was in front of the media on Tuesday ahead of their first game at the Big 12 Tournament against TCU, allowing him to speak on the matter again. He once again denied thinking about leaving Norman and returning to Chicago.

“I just want to put it to bed and focus all our thoughts on our team and beating TCU and advancing in the Big 12 Tournament, NCAA Tournament,” Moser said. “I’ve addressed it twice now.”

The first address from Moser came via X, saying there is “zero truth” to him accepting the DePaul job. Some accounts had said the deal was nearly done but based if you take Moser at his word, nothing is going to happen between the two sides.

“Heard all the rumors this afternoon and want to say emphatically THERE IS ZERO TRUTH!! I LOVE Oklahoma and Sooner Nation,” Moser said via X. “These accounts make stuff up and there is no validity to any of these ‘sources’ b/c I have spoken to NO ONE about any job!!”

Moser was born in the Chicago suburb Naperville and before accepting the Oklahoma job, he was at Loyola-Chicago for a decade. While DePaul has been a struggling program for some time, they are still in the Big East and have the draw of returning home.

Oklahoma poised to make NCAA Tournament under Porter Moser

Entering the third year of Moser at Oklahoma, the Sooners had yet to make the NCAA Tournament. Last season was a losing one, finishing two games under .500 in the regular season. There was some pressure to perform well and to this point, they have done exactly that.

On3’s James Fletcher has Oklahoma as a Last Four Bye team, having some breathing room heading into the Big 12 Tournament. Even if there is an early loss to TCU in Kansas City, there is a good chance the Sooners will be safe.

With the coaching rumors put to the side, Oklahoma can now focus on performing well on the court. They have stumbled into the postseason, losing three of their last four games. Getting back on the right track will be critical this week.
