After entering the NCAA transfer portal last month, former TCU defensive lineman Damonic Williams has chosen his new destination. As On3 learns that Williams has officially committed to the Oklahoma Sooners, he told On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

Williams was a three-star prospect out of Bishop Alemany High School in Mission Hills (CA), where he was ranked the No. 616 overall player and No. 71 defensive lineman in the country for the 2022 recruiting cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

But after entering the NCAA transfer portal, Williams was rated as a four-star college prospect, the No. 70 overall player, and No. 6 ranked defensive lineman available in the transfer portal this offseason according to the On3 Transfer Portal Rankings.

Williams joins the Sooners following two impressive seasons at TCU where he established himself as one of the the top interior defensive linemen in the entire country, excelling at a young age and putting his consistency on display for two straight seasons.

He made his college football debut at the age of 17, earning his spot on TCU’s defensive line as a true freshman where he started 15 games and recorded 27 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and 4.5 tackles for loss, and a forced fumble. Playing a major role in the Horned Frogs journey to the national championship game while also being named a Freshman All-American by two publications and an Honorable-Mention for Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year.

This past season Williams upped his production and accolades, posting 33 tackles, 5.0 tackles for loss, and 3.0 sacks along with earning All-Big 12 Honorable-Mention and Big 12 Defensive Lineman of the Year honors before hitting the portal.

Williams helps the Sooners address a high position of need as they now bolster up their defensive line in a major way. Joining forces with two promising true freshman David Stone and Jayden Jackson on the defensive line as a 6-foot-2, 320 pound tackle with 27 consecutive starts under his belt. As head coach Brent Venables continues to make defense the priority as the Sooners join the SEC this upcoming season.
