The Senior Bowl is a place where college football’s most overlooked can improve their draft stock. Evidently, Todd McShay believes Oklahoma defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey did just that throughout the week.

After a week of hard-work, McShay took to Twitter to praise the Sooners defender.

“It’s hard to have a better Senior Bowl week than the one turned in by Oklahoma DT Perrion Winfrey,” revealed McShay.

Moreover, McShay’s praise isn’t the only thing Winfrey is leaving Mobile, Alabama with. After the game, Winfrey was awarded the Senior Bowl MVP award.

Scouts, reporters and front office personnel alike gravitated towards Winfrey all week long. After winning the award, the former Oklahoma defensive lineman was filled with plenty of emotion.

“I mean, man, I just wanted to show I was one of the most dominant defensive players in the country man,” said Winfrey. “And I just thank Jim Nagy for giving me the opportunity just come out there and show my talents to the world.”

In the actual game, Winfrey finished with two sacks and three tackles for a loss. However, he made his undeniable impact throughout the week, going viral on Twitter and more for his performance throughout the week.

Last season, Winfrey registered 23 tackles for 5.5 sacks and a forced fumble for the Sooners. At the next level, he’ll look to continue the momentum he’s built through the Senior Bowl.

Brian Asamoah on Perrion Winfrey: ‘Best DL in the country.’

Furthermore, a former Oklahoma star was in awe of the show Perrion Winfrey put on. Brian Asamoah — a former Sooners teammate of Winfrey — witnessed his former teammate put on a show at the Reese’s Senior Bowl. On Saturday, the former Oklahoma defensive lineman was awarded the senior bowl MVP, ending the season on a high note.

After the game, Asamoah made a bold claim on his former Sooners teammate.

“Perrion Winfrey in the best DLINEMEN IN THE COUNTRY,” wrote Asamoah via Twitter.

Originally, Winfrey wasn’t expected to be selected with a premium pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. However, his performance at the Senior Bowl could send him rocketing up draft boards.

Brian Asamoah may be too close to the situation to trust, but the show Perrion Winfrey put on this week was something to behold. Time will tell how far he rises when April rolls along.
