He hasn’t been the head coach of Oklahoma football for four years, but it’s still crystal clear that Crimson and Cream is still flowing through Bob Stoops’ veins.

He pumped his fists and slapped the desk as Oklahoma’s Kennedy Brooks broke loose for the game-winning 33-yard touchdown run against Texas in Saturday’s classic Red River Showdown.

Check out his reaction below.

After all, Stoops was the head coach at Oklahoma for 18 seasons, so it’s easy to see how the man is still so passionate about his former school.

Especially after the Sooners had just completed the largest comeback in Red River Showdown history to win 55-48.

Red River Showdown: Instant Classic

The 2021 version of the Red River Showdown will undoubtedly go down as one of the best games in series history and college football history as well. There were breathtaking plays made by both Oklahoma and Texas in the game.

This one will be extra sweet for Oklahoma Sooner fans and it will surely sting for a long, long time for Texas fans. The Longhorns were up 28-7 in the game, but the Sooners made an incredible comeback behind the stellar play of true freshman signal-caller Caleb Williams.

Caleb Williams story begins for Oklahoma

Caleb Williams announced himself to the college football world and in a big way today. Earlier in the season, Oklahoma Sooner fans had been chanting for him after Spencer Rattler threw an interception and it turns out they were 100 percent right.

As soon as he entered the game, Williams began making homerun hitting plays for the Sooners, including this 66-yard touchdown run.

After replacing Rattler, the true freshman completed 16 of his 25 pass attempts for 212 passing yards, while tossing in two touchdowns and no interceptions. As a runner, he gashed the ‘Horns for 88 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground on just four carries.

Williams has been highly thought of by the experts at On3 for quite some time now. On3 had him rated as the No.1 overall prospect in America in the 2021 recruiting class.

Xavier Worthy

Another freshman superstar who shined today in the Texas-Oklahoma game was Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy. The electrifying receiver out of Fresno, California, made some incredible plays but had a costly fumble late in the game as well.

Make no mistake about it, the future is incredibly bright in Austin and beyond for this phenom of a receiver. On the first play of the game, Worthy had a 75-yard touchdown catch and put his world-class speed on fine display.

Check it out below.

His touchdown on the opening play was the first in the 121-year history of the Red River Showdown.

Worthy hauled in nine catches for 261 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns today.

Look for Worthy to continue to shine for the ‘Horns this season and beyond. The Fresno, California native was rated as the nation’s No. 18 overall prospect in the class of 2021 recruiting rankings, according to On3.
