Los Alamitos (Calif.) High might as well be called Oklahoma West. Three 2023 elite recruits from the school are committed to the Sooners, including five-star quarterback Malachi Nelson and four-star wide receiver DeAndre Moore.

And the two connected on a sweet touchdown Thursday night in their team’s game against Newport Beach (Calif.) Corona del Mar.

Malachi Nelson is one of the best quarterbacks in the country

Malachi Nelson slots in at No. 2 on the 2023 On3 Top 100, just behind fellow signal caller Arch Manning.

On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power said Nelson is a tremendous talent.

“The 6-foot-3, 175-pounder is a gifted passer with a quick release to go with advanced accuracy and feel for the game,” Power said. “This showed up during his spring season, where Nelson made easy work of opposing defenses. He completed 85 of 115 passes (73.9%) for 23 touchdowns and four interceptions in just six games.”

Nelson is and will continue to be the headliner of Oklahoma’s recruiting class. The Sooners already have seven commits in the 2023 cycle already.

Along with Malachi Nelson and his two teammates, Oklahoma also has commitments from Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage wide receiver Brandon Inniss and Jacksonville Trinity Christian running back Treyaun Webb.

DeAndre Moore makes up a lethal tandem with Makai Lemon

DeAndre Moore and four-star Makai Lemon make up on the best wide receiver tandems in high school football.

Lemon is the No. 71 on the 2023 On300 Top 100.

Moore and Lemon will continue to team up with Malachi Nelson at the next level.

Nelson was the first one to commit to the Sooners in July with Lemon following suit in August. The two are lifelong friends and that connection can be seen anytime they step on the field.

Moore decided to join them this past week, officially committing to the Sooners on Sept. 24.

Moore is in his first year in California after transferring from Las Vegas (Nev.) Desert Pines. But it is clear that his connection with Malachi Nelson is already really strong.
