Missouri City (Texas) Hightower four-star wide receiver Zion Kearney is visiting Oklahoma this weekend for the Sooners’ spring game. He previously visited Oklahoma on Jan. 28.

Kearney is the No. 58 overall prospect and No. 11 wide receiver in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 11 player in Texas.

“That Air Raid offense coach (Jeff Lebby) showed me (stands out),” Kearney told Billy Embody of The Bengal Tiger on Feb. 20. “He’s down to earth and a man that knows what he wants.”

The 6-foot-2, 195-pound wideout announced a top six of Oklahoma, Nebraska, LSU, Arkansas, Texas A&M and Houston on Feb. 16. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, the Aggies have a close lead for his commitment at 37.9%.

Kearney has seen Texas A&M more than five times, including on Nov. 26. He also saw LSU on March 4.

“I really wanna get with the wide receiver coach, offensive coordinator and head coach to get an understanding of their offense and I how I fit in,” Kearney said. “Oh man, the culture (stands out). That game day experience is next level. I know I’m gonna get an education wherever I go, but I don’t think anywhere compares to the culture at LSU.”

“I like his experience and knowledge,” he added about wide receivers coach Cortez Hankton. “His vibe is cool and laid back. He recruited my teammate last year, so there’s a little history too.”

Oklahoma is looking to strengthen its 2024 class

Kearney is one of many blue-chip recruits visiting the Sooners this weekend. Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy five-star defensive lineman David Stone, Lindale (Texas) four-star interior offensive lineman Casey Poe and Melissa (Texas) four-star defensive lineman Nigel Smith II are a few of them.

Oklahoma’s 2024 recruiting class currently contains one wide receiver in Franklinton (La.) three-star Kelly Daniels, who chose head coach Brent Venables and his staff on April 17. The Sooners currently have four pledges and their class ranks No. 21 in the 2024 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings, as well as No. 11 in the SEC.

Queen Creek (Ariz.) Casteel four-star cornerback Jeremiah Newcombe, McKinney (Texas) Frisco Emerson four-star quarterback Michael Hawkins and Fulton (Miss.) Itawamba Agricultural three-star offensive tackle Isaiah Autry are the other players committed to Oklahoma. Autry chose the Sooners earlier today.
